Job Description:
The Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) is responsible for bringing marketing, engineering and customer facing technical knowledge to bear on Virtual Bridges products and the Desktop Virtualization market. The TME will lead Alliance partner technical evangelism, technical education to channel and Alliance partners as well as internal stakeholders. The TME will also oversee the Alliance partner technical program, general best practices, product demos, development of competitive information, benchmarks, technical whitepapers and provide customer facing technical information for the marketing organization.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Provide technical marketing expertise on Virtual Bridges products through hands-on experience
- Educate and Evangelize Alliance and Channel partners:
- General product technical information
- Competitive information
- Benchmarks
- Hardware and software technical best practices
- Alliance partner integration work (both hardware and software)
- Develop & maintain relationships with technical Alliance partner personnel
- Understand Virtual Bridges go-to-market programs and support the technical marketing needs of those programs
- Participate in training Alliance and Channel partners
- Create / write articles, blogs and present technical marketing information internally and externally, including conferences
- Drive Alliance partner program participation, complete required training to maintain partner program certifications
Position Qualifications:
- Technical – Must have an expert level knowledge and understanding of Desktop Virtualization and at least two competing platforms (VMware, Microsoft or Citrix), as well as server based virtualization and application virtualization products. Must understand and be able to clearly articulate in writing, verbally and via demonstration the positioning of the various market participants’ product architectures.
- Communication - Must have the ability to present Virtual Bridges in-depth positioning on desktop virtualization strategies to multiple audiences. Must demonstrate, via prior work product, writing, presentation and, generally, a high level of communication expertise (including emails, white papers, technical notes, product collateral, etc.). Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel including C-level.
- Initiative – The TME is a self-starter that manages time and activities based on a plan and with little day-to-day guidance or interaction. Must exhibit a positive attitude, represent Virtual Bridges to our business partners and customers in the best possible fashion, and foster interest in our technology and company to multiple audiences. Ability to prioritize and manage a very large number of diverse tasks.
- Adaptability – The TME is a technical thought leader in the organization. Thinks out of the box to help create new technical insights, presentation materials, positioning statements, product enhancements, and/or technical tools to generate improved business with direct as well as channel customers. Must be flexible in adapting to changes and thinks holistically when evaluating needed changes.
Required Attributes:
- Expert understanding of Desktop Virtualization technologies
- In-depth experience with Citrix, VMware and / or Microsoft virtualization technologies with a focus on the Desktop
- Ideally 5 years direct engagement experience working with Citrix, VMware and / or Microsoft virtualization technologies
- Exemplary presentation, written and verbal skills
- ‘Hands-on’ ability to both build and deliver demonstrations of Virtual Bridges technology
- Proven track record of strategic technical thinking and business understanding
- Deep understanding of virtualization technologies and the virtualization market
- Ability to work effectively as a member of matrixed teams potentially spanning multiple organizations and geographies
- Sensitive to deadlines and highly flexible in adjusting to new deadline priorities
- Demonstrated ability to achieve and maintain expected productivity levels with minimal supervision
- Able to set own priorities, but sensitive to the needs of the team and other internal stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in unstructured environments
- Enthusiasm and natural curiosity for technology
- High emotional maturity

- Expert level technical skills in virtualization, desktop virtualization, various Linux distributions, computer hardware, software and networking
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and / or Certified Professional preferred
- Citrix CCEA, CCIA and CCA certifications preferred
- VMware VCA-DT, VCP-DT, VCP certifications preferred
- Computer Science or equivalent degree required
